Car Detailing in Port Credit

Cars kept near the lake have a different problem list to the rest of the city. Here's what we actually see on Port Credit vehicles, and what we do about it.

What we see on cars from Port Credit

Salt spray that isn't road salt. Cars parked within a few streets of the lakefront pick up airborne moisture year-round, and it carries more mineral content than inland air. On its own it's not dramatic, but combined with five months of road salt it accelerates corrosion in exactly the places you can't see — door seams, the underside of the trunk lip, and around the fuel filler.

Gull damage. This one is specific to the waterfront and the marina lots, and it's worse than people expect. Bird droppings are acidic and etch clear coat within days in summer heat. We see more etch damage on cars parked near the harbour than anywhere else in the city.

Marina and trailer grime. Boat trailers throw a mix of lake water, weed and launch-ramp grit up the back of a tow vehicle. It bakes on and needs chemical decontamination, not a wash.

Street parking wear. Much of the village is on-street, which means door dings, cyclists' pedal marks along the flanks, and a lot more contact damage on the driver's side than the passenger's.

What we usually recommend here

For a car parked outside near the water, a ceramic coating earns its money faster than almost anywhere else in Mississauga — not for gloss, but because acidic droppings and mineral spray sit on top of the coating rather than keying into the clear coat, and because they release with far less contact when washed.

For cars that already show etching, that's a paint correction question. Light etch polishes out completely; anything that's been baking since last July may need a two-stage.

And for anything towing a boat, the exterior detail with decontamination at the end of the season is the one that prevents next year's problems.
